Mitra Javandel, MD
Dr. Mitra Javandel is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. A skilled surgeon, she has extensive experience treating patients at all fitness levels who have suffered ligament, tendon, muscle, cartilage and bone injuries. She believes it is important to take the time to listen to her patients, ensure they understand their injuries, communicate options based on the latest research and technology, and collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan that works for each individual. Whether a patient is a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or someone trying to regain pain-free movement in their everyday life, Dr. Javandel is committed to helping them return to their desired level of function. Often, this can be achieved without surgery. When surgery is optimal for achieving patient goals, she utilizes minimally invasive techniques to help speed recovery.
Dr. Javandel was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and Master’s degree from the University of California at Davis before completing medical school and orthopaedic surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. During her fellowship, Dr. Javandel cared for the athletes of the San Francisco Giants, University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, Santa Clara University, DeAnza College and Foothill College. Following her training, she joined the medical staff at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
